Madame Defarge's children

Sociologists and grown-ups will want to take anti-nauseals before looking at FUUSE.COM. “Voice of the Revoluution” indeed — you can hear them sharpening the guillotine already. Props to ChaliceChick and a couple of others for trying to promote some sanity but their “anti-revoluutionary” defence of reasoned thinking and patience has not gone unnoticed.

  1. I don’t particularly care for the tone of the FUUSE.com site. As an example, the following quote from the home page: “The following statement is one person’s account of the events that happened during the closing ceremony in which the writer, a woman of color, discounts racism as the motive for the ushers’ and minister’s response. Regardless of readers’ opinions on this matter, FUUSE wants to acknowledge that racism and prejudice were present at GA and continue to be a problem in the larger UU community.” Wow. It’s great that they’re the definitive source for the presence or absence of racism.

That being said, I wish someone would detail exactly what the problems are with FUUSE and the racism stuff. Various people refer to the “elite”, but, coming from no personal knowledge whatsoever about UU Youth, I don’t understand what’s actually going on that gets a lot of people upset. Could someone explain with some detailed facts?

  2. With hardcore FUUSEniks, and like the current administration, facts only get in the way.

  3. It’s just… staggering. It’s like something Christopher Guest would write if he was making a mockumentary of Unitarian Universalists.
