Gang, I’ll be putting my current blog-energy into getting my three domains-in-limbo online. No content, but I want them ready for a larger project. More about that later. The domains are
- nohell.org
- universalistpartnership.org
- unitarianuniversalist.org
But there’s nothing there yet, so don’t bother.
Nohell.org sounds fascinating. I had an idea last year for something similar – not espousing one particular view (e.g. annihilation or restoration), but simply refuting the disgusting doctrine of everlasting conscious torment.
I look forward this!
certainly sounds big!
I personally call myself a Unitarian Christian (rather than UU Christian), but I guess I am really a UU Christian because I also disagree strongly with the concept of hell.
It seems highly irrational to believe a Loving God would set up a torture chamber and put you there for eternity (and although some people argue the Devil reigns there, if God really is all-powerful then ultimately hell is provided by God). I don’t believe in the Devil either. I personally think the devil metaphorically represents a facet of our own personalities – for example, when we listen to our selfish desires rather than the greater good.
I think hell exists in our reality – people often go through hellish times – but they turn to God for the strength to get through them.
I look forward to your site Scott, particularly as there as so many supposedly intellectual people out there promoting such an irrational theology.
