If your parish was in Antarctica

For churches in far-flung places, nobody gets more mileage than the Orthodox. I’ve been poking around the Internet looking at Orthodox Church in America parishes and chapels in remote Alaska (after watching an episode of Deadliest Catch; but more about them later) but then cast my net back to “familiar” grounds: the Antarctic.

Trinity Church is an architecturally-proper Russian Orthodox church in Antarctia, or rather on King George Island off the coast of Antarctica, “across” from Tierra del Fuego. Here’s the kicker: it has a resident priest. None of this McMurdo-bring-in-a-minister-make-it-lay-led-over-the-winter business. That’s pretty hard core.
