For-profit support business to help new church?

Table of Content

I know there are churches -- some very old churches included -- that have businesses that support their ministries. Here's a remarkable example. I guess if you stick around long enough you can collect businesses into your portfolio, the resources to support businesses, or at least rent out bits of the building. This is quite legal.

But has anyone heard of a church organizer also operating a business to get the church funded? A yeoman's task, but church organizing isn't a cake walk to begin with.

Does anyone know of a church that started this way?

  1. I am told by some Unitarian I know in my area (although this doesn’t mean it is entirely accurate) that Kendal Unitarian Chapel owns the main high street in Kendal and so gains funds from renting to shops there.
