Not all web-based subscriptions are created equal

OK, perhaps this is becoming a computing blog of sorts. But only to help people, and particularly those who lead and assist religious congregations. I don’t want anyone to suffer, including bad customer service for web-based products.

PC World magazine has an article “Just Cancel the @#%$* Account!” (Tom Spring, 2006 December 22) which reviews the author’s experience trying to cancel some online subscriptions.

Neither AOL nor NetZero come out well, and I would read this article if you’re considering signing up for a online dating service. The New York Times TimesSelect and Consumer Reports products were the only hassle-free services tried.
