Beacon title in unexpected place

I love my local hardware store. Hubby and I can be there by foot in scant minutes, door to door. We get a lot of our non-food goods there; it is a desirable shopping experience and its presence is great for the neighborhood. When expressed my petro-solvent needs to the clerk at the register, he radio-ed up to a staff member on the second floor, who showed me where I needed to go.

As I made my way to the counter with a can of WD-40, listening to the Talking Heads, I saw a book. I’ve never seen a book for sale there.

Aha! A Beacon Press title, pointing to the experience of that store — and the reality of the Big Orange Box across town. I almost bought Big-Box Swindle: The True Cost of Mega-Retailers and the Fight for America’s Independent Businesses — in part because they promoted it with a $5 coupon for future purchases in the store.
