Could GA be affordable this year?

FUUSE points readers to the 2007 Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly housing page. For the first time in who knows how long (but I have missed a few GAs since my first in 1993) there isn't a big towering theme hotel next to the convention center, but several low-slung -- and lower-priced -- venues available.  That has to be good news for all those who attend GA and get bitten by corporate-rate hotels or who live with a scolding for not "making the block" when choosing an unofficial and cheaper site.

Plus, the light rail from the airport to the Convention Center is very cheap, clean, efficient and direct.

Speaking of rail, and as miserable as airline travel can be, Amtrak serves Portland and if I lived in northern California or the Pacific Northwest, this would be a fair choice. ($67/ow and 18 hours from Oakland, for Starr King students.  Meadville/Lombard students shouldn't even ask.)
