Sustainable food, part 2

I’m listening to an interesting radio documentary on the BBC World Service, the current episode of “One Planet”; you can listen to it — this week anyway — here. The subject is wasted food and food waste. Seems a very high proportion of food — especially fresh fruit and vegetables — are bought and never eaten in the UK and US. Some is grown and never harvested. Much is discarded by groceries, especially convenience stores and prepared food generally.

We meet some Freegans, methane digestion of food waste, and worm farms.

It certainly colors the food fairness issue.
