You, Dear Readers, know I want my home, the District of Columbia, to have full voting representation in Congress. There's something deeply un-American about a body controlling my city's fundamental affairs where none of the residents have a voice with vote. But I've written about that before.
The DC-Utah plan -- where each would get a representative and surely keep the party balance at status quo -- looks dead in the water with the President threatening to veto. What bothers me is the march and demonstration held yesterday -- on the city's Emancipation Day holiday -- led by the mayor, the Hon. Adrian Fenty. Hubby and I got two automated telephone calls urging us to be there, but I have a Day Job and he was asleep for his Night Job. Who did he think he was going to get for a midday Monday rally?
Plus, this model of demonstration is so terribly dated, and seems all that much less effective given that Fenty is younger than I am. Randomduck has some coverage. Let this be a lesson, wherever you are.
