"Good boys deserve treats" and other lies I'm unlearning

When I lose excess weight successfully, it isn't because I found a must-do diet or skinny-sinful recipes.  It's because I have a more conscious understanding about how I relate to food.

  • It's OK to be a little hungry sometimes. I'm safe. I'm not going to starve. (Millions of others should be so fortunate.)
  • I don't need a "treat" if I'm good, or at least the treat doesn't need to be food.
  • I've never been skinny and I don't have to be skinny to be happy with how I look.

Ms. Kitty writes about dieting and not dieting and has a lot of very wise things to say. So there.

  1. Me — I have to be very careful not to get too much into a pattern of eating at the keyboard. (A) I get crumbs and worse everywhere. And (B) I love doing this so much — especially brownies and Diet Coke mid-afternoon. It’s so much harder to break a yummy habit than not to start at all. You go!
