Blog as district business manager

I am very interested in August Retreat: Notes for the PSD Board/Staff/Program Council Retreat. The PSD is the Prairie Star District of the Unitarian Universalist Association and looking at the title, this seems to be a short-term blog. It has Phil Lund’s hand (Phil’s Little Blog on the Prairie) all over it; after all, he is that district’s Lifespan Program Consultant. That’s a plus: experience is a harbinger of success.

In some ways it seems bloggy, but other ways I wonder if a wiki wouldn’t have been a better choice, particularly if it is meant to stay up more than a few weeks. That just a spoken thought, and perhaps a moot one since a WordPress.com blog is better supported and easier to manage than most or all of the free-of-charge wiki farms out there.

Since this is the first time I’ve ever seen a blog used for something so official, institutional and cross-congregational, I have a modest threshold for success. Give it a look and comment if you’re so inclined. I wish this experiment well.

  1. Thanks, Scott. It’s an experiment right now, but we’re hoping to make it a regular district leadership communication tool. And you’re right about the Wiki–our district website can support them, but WordPress is easier for me to manage. We’ll see what happens!
