En route to General Assembly

I’m all packed up with an hour to kill. All I need to do is grab my phone, water bottle and bags and head towards my bus. The double-deckered red-eye from Washington, D.C. to Charlotte. With wifi.

So I was thinking — how have I gotten to GA? Goodness, it’s been a while since I’ve been. Curious how it’s changed.

  • 2003: Boston, Mass. train
  • 2002: Quebec City. two buses
  • 2001: Cleveland, Ohio. flight
  • 2000: Nashville, Tenn. flight
  • 1998: Rochester, N.Y., flight
  • 1995: Spokane, Wash. a very long and fun road trip, which I remember better than the GA
  • 1994: Fort Worth, Texas. lived there, seminary. so city bus.
  • 1993: Charlotte, N.C.. car pool

  1. For me…

2005: Saint Louis, MO. car pool

    2003: Boston, Mass. flight

    2001: Cleveland, Ohio. car pool

1999: Salt Lake City, UT. flight

It is somewhat shocking to me that I have not been to GA since 2005. But in the years after 2005, work schedules and finances have precluded attending. I once held the ideal that I should go every other year. I miss it mostly for the people I don’t get to see because I stayed home.

  2. 2003 Boston, MA Car to Medford, then the “T”
2002 Quebec City, QC Car (Same road as Benedict Arnold)
    1995 Spokane Plane

I’m with Derek. I miss the people (sigh).

  3. This year I drove, but last year I took a VERY long bus ride and don’t want to do that again. As it stands I don’t think I’ll be able to make Arizona. Too expensive.

  4. The “prize” this year goes to a minister who was on the bus with me last night. And had to connect to two other long-distance buses before getting home. I hope she’s since arrived.
