eBay: late Universalist church sign

I was getting to the Universalist Church globe logo — quite a creature unlike others we’ve seen — from the 1950s, just before consolidation with the Unitarians. But if you’ve got the cash, you can get an original street sign on eBay.

I wonder what church it pointed to?

  1. This one? http://www.uupm.org/aboutus.php – scroll down to “Our building”, it reads..

“From a newspaper article the in the week before the building dedication on December 3, 1889..
The new church of the Universalist society at Monson is situated on the corner of Main and Lincoln streets…”

The sign says corner of lincoln and main. Maybe a match, maybe not.

  2. As of four years ago, when I was serving as their interim minister, the UU Society of Wellesley Hills, MA had in their possession (stuffed in an old closet) the building sign of the Wellesley Universalist Church, which one or two older members recalled as in existence perhaps as late as consolidation. It was strictly text, (no logo) black with gold lettering giving the address, service times, etc. Sad to say, I did not think of snapping a photo of it at the time. I wonder if it would still be around?
