Home and work life will be busy this week, so the blogging will be necessarily light. I hope y’all had a stirring Palm Sunday, and great prayers for Holy Week.
Here are the palm crosses I made yesterday afternoon from the palms I got at church. Typical 30-32 inch strips, once trimmed of the very thin top pieces, made crosses about 4 inches tall. The one on the left came from thinner and — by the time I got to it — dryer material, so it split lengthwise while folding.
Palm Sunday was awesome… Sang “All Glory Laud and Honor” with piano, organ, and string trio accompaniment. As music goes, kind of weird for a semi-programmed Quaker meeting, but wonderful as sacred music goes. Then a sermon (title, “Being Put On Parade”) from a Muslim student from Palestine who is studying at the local Quaker college. Fascinating… And yes, there was still silent waiting on the Holy Spirit.
Certainly not what we’re taught to think of Friends worship, though programmed worship is probably less a part of the consciousness outside Quakerdom.
